Be the Majority! is a community-wide prevention campaign that helps young people understand an important truth: most Morgan County teens choose not to use alcohol, tobacco, or other harmful substances. By sharing positive messages and real local data, the campaign encourages youth to make healthy decisions with confidence.
Through student leadership, community outreach, and educational campaigns, Be the Majority! empowers young people to become positive role models and reminds them that choosing a healthy lifestyle puts them in the majority.
Many young people believe that “everyone is doing it” when it comes to alcohol, tobacco, and drug use. In reality, local survey data tells a very different story.
According to the Indiana Youth Survey, 7 out of 10 Morgan County teens choose not to use alcohol, tobacco, or other harmful substances. Be the Majority! was created to share that message with students throughout the county and help replace misconceptions with facts.
By focusing on the positive choices most students are already making, the campaign encourages confidence, reduces peer pressure, and supports healthier decision-making.
Be the Majority! is an environmental prevention strategy that uses positive community messaging to encourage healthy behaviors among youth. Rather than focusing on negative consequences, the campaign highlights the fact that most local teens are already making responsible choices.
Throughout Morgan County, students may see Be the Majority! messages on:
Each message reinforces that living substance-free is the norm—not the exception.
The faces of the Be the Majority! campaign are members of Morgan County Drug Free Youth (DFY). These student leaders help create and promote campaign materials while encouraging their peers to make positive choices.
By involving local youth in the campaign, Be the Majority! gives students a voice and creates authentic messages that resonate throughout the community.
Research has shown that young people are heavily influenced by what they believe their peers are doing. When students incorrectly assume that substance use is common, they may feel more pressure to experiment.
Be the Majority! helps correct those misconceptions by sharing accurate local data and celebrating the healthy choices that most Morgan County teens already make. This approach helps reduce peer pressure, build confidence, and create a stronger culture of prevention throughout our schools and communities.
Morgan County Substance Abuse Council is proud to partner with local schools, youth organizations, and community leaders to promote the Be the Majority! campaign. By working together, we can continue encouraging healthy choices and supporting the next generation of Morgan County youth.
